"WORK #4 - Ohio Museum" is Framed

It's DONE...and I am 'Happy with it'.

Could not wait to get this from my framer.  He sewed the linen to the black suede board backing (very carefully).  I am very dissatisfied with the glass because of all the reflections ... but I felt the +'s outweighed the -'s.

Now I will have to wait to hang it up as we are in the process of packing for our move to our new home just before Thanksgiving. However, on the brighter side, we will be in for Christmas ~ I hope.

Have a great day with Peace to all,
Barb

  1. I almost started this sampler but didn't like the thread colors with my linen color. I like yours though!

  2. The linen color called for in the design was totally out of the question for me. I bleached and dyed - bleached and dyed again and finally gave it my coffee, cinnamon and vanilla wash. The floss colors for the most part was not of my liking but I wanted to stay within the colors of the design as I was attempting to replicate a museum piece of X-stitch. It is done and actually delighted with the final results...except for the reflections on the glass...Ughhh!
Thanks for the comment Marly ... it is always appreciated. I am currently starting 'The Heloise Williams Sampler' from the Scarlet Letter. I Love everything about it...I did give the linen my special wash...so far I am a Happy Stitcher.

  3. Your finish is lovely : ) I never use glass in my framed stitching. I read this once a long time ago ... that unless you hang your framed items in your kitchen or bathroom where they might end up with a bit of splatter from food or beauty products, there's no reason to use glass to frame needlework. If you are worried about dust, you can give them a gentle once-over from time to time with a feather duster. If you are stitching primitive things, dust would just add to the piece : )

  5. Next time ask if your framer has no glare glass. That is what I get from my local glass shop when I frame mine.
